Oh Monkey...how I love thee

I started these tonight. The cuff and one repeat of the lace pattern is done. Dream in Color Smooshy sock yarn in Deep Seaflower colorway. Love the pattern, love the yarn, but I don't think the casein needles I recently aquired aren't as good as they're cracked up to be.

I am done with the body of my Diagonal Stich Coat and have started a sleeve:

On totally unrelated news: my baby started preschool this week. Boo.

We have a family o' possoms under us...

Because I found another one last night. We went to Books A Million twice this weekend and last night I was so excited because I got The Last Tsar and The Great Mortality (sorry I can't post the links--I don't really know how to). All I wanted to do is go home, hunker down with a cup of tea and read. Then one was lurking near the sugar container. So instead, I packed up my knitting and we went out to one of J's buddy's house and he played beer pong and I hung out with the pregnant wives and watched the Breakfast Club.
I got the 25th anniversary issue of Vogue knitting and started the Diagonal Stitch Coat last night. It's pretty:
The flash kind of messed it up, and you can't see the cables that well, but it's a simple pattern. It's made out of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick. I had a bulky yarn in the stash and enough to make it, so why not?
